REgister to sing

Season 6 Cycle 3, Wild Things, is sold out.

Wild Things is a harmonic meditation on the beauty of the natural world.

We are so lucky to be joined by singer/composer, wild woman extraordinaire, Moira Smiley, who recently arranged and recorded many of her beloved heart-forward songs for choir and string quartet.

More than anyone I know, Moira has a gift for turning that which is troubling or heavy on the heart into song. She and I have handpicked a few of her songs and arrangements that are reflections on taking care of, and reveling in, the magnificence of the natural world.

We will be premiering a piece by Jody Redhage-Ferber, NY based cellist, composer, and friend, who has set Wendell Berry’s poem, The Peace of Wild Things, for choir and string quartet. Other pieces on the program include the unbelievably beautiful Earth Song by Frank Ticheli, and two excerpts for choir, percussion and hammered dulcimer from Malcolm Dalglish’s Hymnody of Earth.

Choir League is unique in that all of our rehearsals happen at local bars, restaurants, breweries, and businesses. The bar is open before and after (and even during!) each rehearsal! We are a social singing group full of people who love hanging out with others who share their interest, and like singing in a casual atmosphere.

Choir League is flexible! Sign up only for the concert cycles that fit your schedule. See our events page for a full list of current dates.

When registration for singers is open, it will be available above.

Want to stay in the loop for future events? Join our mailing list at the bottom of this page.

Choir League is NON-AUDITIONED - anyone is welcome to join! We love having fun, but we’re also serious about our music. Don’t worry, we provide rehearsal tracks, sectionals, and other resources to help you stay on top of your singing game. So whether you’re a musician or mostly sing in the shower, Choir League is for you!

Covid protocols:
After researching recommended best practices for choirs, we have determined the only way to provide a safe environment for our singers is to require all singers to be fully vaccinated, including boosters, and a Covid acknowledgement waiver signed at registration. In addition if you are not feeling well, or are running a fever, stay home from rehearsal. Masks are not required while we are in rehearsal at this time.

It was a great time and everyone I met was having so much fun. I really missed singing with a group and being able to fit it into my schedule was amazing.
— John | bass
My friends loved the concert! It did feel fancy and fun and not as stuffy or boring as choir concerts can be for folks who don’t inherently love choir music.
— carrie | alto

The rehearsals are very well run and I also enjoy the emphasis on social functions outside of rehearsal (happy hours, caroling, etc.).
— Akash | tenor
I am actively recruiting anyone I know who sings to join us because I think everyone should experience this level of joy!
— Anne | SOPRANO
I liked the mix of musical styles that we got to sing. Some music was challenging which was fun to tackle!
— Stephanie | soprano

Katy & DCL are such a breath of fresh air from the other group I was involved with!

I love that it’s casual yet serious and we make some good music!

Choir League COVID-19 Policy

Current Choir League Policy & Tools: We have several protective tools in our anti-COVID arsenal - masks, social distancing, and vaccines.

  • Choir League has consistently followed state and local public health orders and CDC guidance when it comes to COVID protection for our singers.

  • Choir League currently requires singers be vaccinated because social distancing cannot be accommodated.

  • Singing increases transmission risk due to more aerosolized particles, which necessitates some caution.

  • Masks: General CDC guidance only says indoor mask wearing is necessary if you're NOT vaccinated. However, in areas of High Community Transmission, CDC says everyone should wear a mask in public indoor settings. Denver is no longer considered an area of high transmission, so masks are now optional.

  • Social Distancing: Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate 6' social distancing in our rehearsal or performance venues, so we are reliant on other tools.

  • Vaccines: Vaccines help prevent the spread of COVID AND reduce the incidence of severe illness if you do get COVID.

    • Many of our singers are in professions where the vaccine is required because their work is inherently public-facing and they have an obligation to protect their communities and reduce transmission (eg, teachers, nurses)

    • Vaccine alternatives: While antibody tests can help assess whether or not an individual has had asymptomatic COVID and might aid in determining immunity, "to what extent and for how long is not yet known." (Mayo Clinic)

Recommendation for Discussion/Consideration

Because of 1) our indoor population density during rehearsal, and 2) increased risk of transmission during singing, Choir League does not feel comfortable relying solely on masks as our only COVID prevention tool. (Especially since masks are now optional for singers.) As a result, for the time being, we will continue our vaccination requirement to protect our singers. We know this is a disappointment for some who are unable to be vaccinated due to medical or religious reasons, and we will continue to monitor the need for COVID-protective policies in future sessions. Masks during rehearsal are optional as of February 28, 2022.
