About Choir League…

Launched in Denver in September 2018, Choir League is a social singing club geared toward young professionals that meets once a week in a local bar, restaurant, or business for rehearsal and a happy hour. We perform every eight weeks and know you're busy, so sign up for the performance cycles that best fit your schedule. We welcome singers of all ability levels, so whether you only sing in your car or have a music degree, you'll be right at home. Because after a beer, we're all better singers.

A few reasons YOU should join Choir League

  • It's a great way to meet people with similar interests.

  • Two words: Happy Hour!

  • It's like a beer league softball team...but for choir.

  • You sang in high school or college and secretly (or not so secretly) really miss it.

  • You like supporting local businesses.

  • Singing decreases stress levels and provides a creative outlet.

  • Did I mention: drink specials?

  • It's different than anything else you'll do all week.

  • Choir League fits into your schedule: register for the cycles that work with your calendar and skip those that don't!

  • We're serious about our music, but rehearsals are fun and low-stress.

  • How else can you have this much fun on a Monday night?

Choir League Covid-19 Policy

Current Choir League Policy & Tools: We have several protective tools in our anti-COVID arsenal - masks, social distancing, and vaccines.

  • Choir League has consistently followed state and local public health orders and CDC guidance when it comes to COVID protection for our singers.

  • Choir League currently does not require singers to wear masks indoors because community transmission in Denver is low.

  • Singing increases transmission risk due to more aerosolized particles, which necessitates some caution. If transmission rates in Denver rise, we reserve the right to return to masking.

  • Masks: General CDC guidance only says indoor mask wearing is necessary if you're NOT vaccinated. However, in areas of High Community Transmission, CDC says everyone should wear a mask in public indoor settings.

  • Social Distancing: Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate 6' social distancing in our rehearsal or performance venues, so we are reliant on other tools.

  • Vaccines: Vaccines help prevent the spread of COVID AND reduce the incidence of severe illness if you do get COVID.

    • Many of our singers are in professions where the vaccine is required because their work is inherently public-facing and they have an obligation to protect their communities and reduce transmission (eg, teachers, nurses)

    • Vaccine alternatives: While antibody tests can help assess whether or not an individual has had asymptomatic COVID and might aid in determining immunity, "to what extent and for how long is not yet known." (Mayo Clinic)

Recommendation for Discussion/Consideration should Transmission Rates Rise in the Future

Because of 1) our indoor population density during rehearsal, 2) increased risk of transmission during singing, and 3) potential high levels of community transmission, Choir League would not feel comfortable relying solely on masks as our only COVID prevention tool. (Especially since many singers' masks come off frequently for beer sipping!) As a result, if cases rise to previous dangerous levels, we will return to our policies of indoor mask-wearing and vaccination requirement to protect our singers. We know this is a disappointment for some who are unable to be vaccinated due to medical or religious reasons, and we will continue to monitor the need for COVID-protective policies in future sessions.
